Android Pie is finally rolling out to HTC U12+ users in the US
As most smartphone brands are working towards Android Q‘s official launch in the next month or so, beleaguered HTC is only just rolling out Android Pie 9 in the US to its most recent flagship, the U12+. Having launched back in May 2018, the U12+ has languished on Android 8 Oreo with HTC’s reputation for timely OS updates having become a distant memory.
Coming in at around 950MB, the Pie update changelog says that the OTA includes features such as “system enhancements” as well as tidying up the now-defunct Google+ integration. July’s security patch is also present. It’s a case of better late than never and considering HTC’s current problems, U12+ owners could be forgiven for thinking that the company had given up the ghost.
HTC U11 users in the US still have a wait on their hands although the Pie update for that particular model did begin rolling out in Taiwan last month, again, so it should be a case of a few weeks as opposed to months.
